The South Korean government has officially stepped in to address the escalating crisis. On the 16th, President Lee Jae-myung issued a stern warning regarding the situation.
On his official X (formerly Twitter) account, President Lee stated:
“We must root out this malicious tyranny that destroys the overall market order and inflicts great damage on everyone.”
He further emphasized:
“We must ensure that the penalties for such actions far outweigh any unfair profits gained.”
During a recent cabinet meeting, the President also questioned the ethics of the situation: “In a capitalist market economy, is it acceptable for someone to simply say, ‘I’ll charge whatever I want, what are you going to do about it?'”
